  6. This document lists the changes to SyncEdit.  Revisions are listed in
  7. reverse chronological order, with the most recent changes appearing near the
  8. top.

  11.                                v2.20 - Dec 1995

  13. o  Added a setup program to make configurable key options within SyncEdit.

  18. o  Spell checker and search/replace functions are now available in the
  19.    unregistered demo mode.  A 10 second registration delay is now in effect
  20.    for those functions.

  23.    used in certain situations.

  60.    (SyncEdit's author).

  62. o  Added all new group of sysop only functions to SyncEdit.  The sysop can now
  63.    chat with user, hang up on user, extend/decrease time allowed on-line for
  64.    user, drop user out of SyncEdit.  A new bottom status bar was added to
  65.    provide more information to sysop when user is on.

  67. o  Added internal windowed quoting function to SyncEdit.  Full message text is
  68.    available for quoting when replying to a message.
  69.  
  70. o  Added Ascii Upload function to SyncEdit.  Users can now easily import text
  71.    files into their messages by performing an ASCII upload from their terminal
  72.    program.  Ascii Upload provides specialized processing of incoming data so
  73.    that users can now directly import files with control characters in them.
  74.    Useful for posting ANSI screens.  Lines longer than 79 characters are
  75.    supported with this function.

  77. o  Sysop File->LoadFile function now imports text at the cursor position
  78.    instead of tacking the text to the end of the message text.  Also, LoadFile
  79.    now supports lines longer than 79 characters as well.

  81. o  Added access to the help system from the sub-menus.  For example, the help
  82.    screen for the spell check function is now available from the spell check
  83.    sub-menu.

  85. o  Fixed numerous bugs.  These include; a user, under certain conditions,
  86.    could continue to type beyond the last sysop defined line causing lock ups
  87.    to occur, numerous display problems where the screen wouldn't properly be
  88.    updated to reflect changes that had occurred in the message text, and
  89.    other sundry items.

  91. o  Several miscellaneous items were also changed, such as; removed some of the
  92.    Yes/No prompts where it seemed redundant, remembering of file names where
  93.    appropiate, faster loading and saving, ect...

  98. o  Added back IN use of XTRN.DAT drop file.  This allows us to greatly
  99.    simplify the command-line used with SyncEdit and ensures easier
  100.    implementation of other enhancements.  This change also now requires
  101.    Synchronet v2.10 or greater to function.

  103. o  SyncEdit now works for monochrome users (as long as they have ANSI).

  105. o  Added user dictionaries.  Each user may create their own specific dictionary
  106.    which will be stored in the external SyncEdit directory.

  108. o  Added ability to skip a word throughout entire spell check session.

  110. o  Fixed display anomalies in block functions.

  112. o  Fixed bug that would cause a extraneous portion of a line to be left on the
  113.    screen after a word wrap.

  129. o  Improved time-slicing capabilities, utilizing SDK v2.0 from Digital
  130.    Dynamics.  Support for most multi-taskers now available.

  132. o  Improved file handling which allows for the loading of ANSI and still
  133.    retain most of the document formatting.

  135. o  Corrected a number of miscellaneous bugs.

  140. o  Dropped use of XTRN.DAT file, now using EDITOR.INF.  This should address
  141.    any security issues and ensure unauthorized users don't get access to the
  142.    SaveToFile and LoadFile commands.

  144. o  Improved hang-up detection routine.
  145.  
  146. o  Went to the .KEY file method of registration, and consequently combined
  147.    the demo and registered version into one executable.  If "SYNCEDIT.KEY" is
  148.    detected upon editor startup, all features are implemented.  If not, the
  149.    unavailable features are shown but in light grey, indicating they are
  150.    disabled.  This will make distribution much easier, as we only have to
  151.    distribute one version which any registered user can download and use
  152.    immediately.

  154. o  Removed the TEAR LINE entirely from the registered version, though it
  155.    is still appended to messages created by the demo version.  By doing
  156.    this, the "Reg to :" info was moved internal to the editor, added to the
  157.    left side of the bottom status bar.  All the original info contained
  158.    within the status bar is still there, it's simply been shifted to the right
  159.    to accommodate the registration information.  Due to the changes made in
  160.    this version, we now have only 20 characters to work with for the
  161.    registration info.

  163. o  Changed the security system to allow user groups 90 (co-Sysops) and
  164.    above access to the SaveToFile and LoadFile command.  Previously,
  165.    access to these functions was limited to user #1.
  166.  
  167. o  Increased maximum line limit to 500.  Also, SyncEdit will continue to
  168.    function when passed more then 500 for NUM OF LINES, but will use 500 for
  169.    it's limit, ie only 500 lines will be edited and saved.

  171. o  A number of minor bugs corrected, including failing to clear the
  172.    screen upon user hang-up, SaveToFile and LoadFile commands, etc.
